Privacy Policy

Care For People collects and handles personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We collect only information necessary to deliver NDIS supports, manage service agreements, and meet our obligations as a registered NDIS provider. Information is stored securely and is not shared with third parties except as required to deliver services or comply with law. Complaints & Feedback

Care For People welcomes complaints and feedback as a tool for continuous improvement. All complaints are taken seriously, handled confidentially, and responded to promptly. You may make a complaint verbally or in writing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to escalate your complaint to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (1800 035 544) or the Australian Human Rights Commission. No person will be disadvantaged for making a genuine complaint.

Participant Rights

All NDIS participants supported by Care For People have rights protected under the NDIS Act, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the NDIS Code of Conduct. Participants have the right to: make decisions about their own lives; be treated with dignity and respect; receive safe, quality supports; be free from abuse, neglect and exploitation; make complaints without fear of retribution; access information about their supports and service agreements in accessible formats.

Code of Conduct

Care For People and all Provider Partners are bound by the NDIS Code of Conduct, which requires workers to: act with respect for individual rights to self-determination and decision-making; respect the privacy of people with disability; provide supports and services in a safe and competent manner; act with integrity, honesty and transparency; promptly take action to raise and act on concerns about matters that may impact the quality and safety of supports. Breaches of the Code of Conduct are reported to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Incident Management

Care For People has a robust incident management system aligned to NDIS Practice Standard requirements. All incidents involving participants must be reported internally within 24 hours. Reportable incidents (as defined by the NDIS Commission) are notified to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission within required timeframes (24 hours for priority incidents, 5 business days for others). All incidents are investigated and reviewed to prevent recurrence. Participants and their representatives are informed of outcomes.

Safeguarding Policy

Care For People is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all participants, with a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence. All workers undergo NDIS Worker Screening Checks and are trained in safeguarding practices. The safeguarding policy covers: worker screening and vetting; mandatory reporting obligations; safe environments and risk management; responding to disclosures; working with vulnerable cohorts including children, people with cognitive impairment, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Conflict of Interest

Care For People identifies, declares, and manages conflicts of interest to protect the integrity of decision-making and safeguard participants. Workers and Provider Partners must declare any actual or perceived conflicts of interest. Conflicts are recorded in a register and managed through mitigation strategies including independent decision-making, recusal, or disclosure to affected parties. This policy is aligned to NDIS Practice Standards for governance and operational management.

Duty of Care & Dignity of Risk

Care For People balances its legal duty of care to participants with the participant's fundamental right to take reasonable risks and make their own choices — known as the Dignity of Risk. Support workers must act to prevent foreseeable harm while not being overly restrictive of a participant's autonomy. Risk assessments are conducted collaboratively with participants. Restrictive practices are only used as a last resort, documented, and reported in accordance with NDIS Commission requirements.
